Asylum for highly qualified people

It is not possible to come to Germany as a refugee and subsequently obtain a Blue Card in Germany or benefit from the Skilled Immigration Act.

Highly qualified people who come to Germany as refugees go through the asylum procedure in the same way as all other asylum applicants. They are subject to the same conditions for access to the housing and labor market and for receiving benefits.

You should have your certificates translated and qualifications recognized as soon as possible. Sometimes further formal qualifications are required in Germany if, for example, you do not want to work in your profession but in a closely related job. In other areas, additional language qualifications are required.

Depending on which form of protection you are granted, your chances of obtaining a settlement permit after 3 or 5 years will increase as soon as you start your career.
