Removal assistance

Germany generally promotes the mobility of employees.

Anyone who changes their place of residence for a new job with which they can earn their own living can apply for financial support from the local employment agency.

The application must be submitted before the move and is only likely to be successful if the new job is more than two and a half hours' drive from the current place of residence. Relocation assistance can also be applied for when starting a training position.

Relocation assistance can only be granted within the framework of available household funds, so there is no legal entitlement to it.
