Procedure
You have a good chance of finding an apartment if the landlord asks you for more detailed information in the form of a questionnaire, documents and proof. In addition to your identity card or a copy of your residence permit, this also includes a certificate of income or a rent acceptance certificate from jenarbeit.
The landlord will obtain information from Schufa and may ask for a certificate of no rental debts or even a police clearance certificate. This information is a prerequisite for a rental agreement.
If you receive state benefits
If you receive state benefits, you should obtain confirmation from the authority responsible for the benefit that the rental offer is appropriate before signing the contract.
If the rent and operating costs for your future home meet the requirements, the responsible authority will issue a written assurance that it will pay the rent. If you are unsure what costs for housing are considered reasonable, you are welcome to find out in advance.
If, despite the rejection, you move to an inappropriate apartment, the costs for the new apartment will only be covered up to the maximum amount of the appropriate costs. The assumption of moving costs is then also completely excluded and any additional payments from the utility bill cannot be assumed.
