The services of the Thuringian University and State Library and its branch libraries are supplemented by the Ernst Abbe Library and libraries in individual parts of the city. Free PC workstations are also available here. Children can use the library free of charge.

To ensure that everyone has access to cultural events despite having to pay an entrance fee, holders of the Jenabonus card or the culture pass can sometimes receive discounts.
