Religion

In Germany, around a third of the population does not belong to any religious denomination. Among the faithful, Catholics and Protestants are in roughly equal proportions. Around 10 percent of them belong to other faiths.

Jena sees itself as a cosmopolitan and tolerant city in which different faith communities live their religion together and side by side.

In addition to the Protestant and Catholic parishes, you will also find an Islamic center, the Islamic cultural association and a Jewish and Buddhist community in our city.
