Work alongside vocational training
You may work alongside your training if your training company agrees and you do not jeopardize your training objective as a result.
Working for a competing company is not permitted. You are also not permitted to work elsewhere during your vacation at the training company.
General conditions
If you are between 15 and 17 years old, the Youth Employment Protection Act applies and you may not work more than 40 hours per week, including a maximum of 8 hours per day between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. and on no more than 5 working days. Days on which you study at vocational school are counted as 8 hours.
If you are already 18 years or older, the Working Hours Act allows you to work a total of up to 48 hours per week on 6 working days per week. Nevertheless, at least the average number of 8 working hours per day must be adhered to.
The prescribed rest period must also be observed. An uninterrupted rest period of at least 11 hours is required after the end of the daily working hours.
Your additional earnings may affect the amount of child benefit and vocational training allowance.
