Traveling and moving to other countries

In general, we strongly advise against traveling to your country of origin because Germany will assume in this case that there are currently no grounds for asylum and revocation proceedings may be initiated against you. This will jeopardize your right of residence in Germany.

With your recognition, you may travel freely within Germany. If you have a valid travel document or, if necessary, a visa, you may stay in other EU countries and in other third countries for 90 out of 180 days if you are not gainfully employed there.

If you wish to move to another country, this country must examine your wish to move on a case-by-case basis and will approve it under special conditions, for example if you are getting married.

If you wish to travel or even move to other third countries, you should obtain comprehensive information about the relevant regulations, e.g. from embassies, consulates, immigration authorities, lawyers or the Federal Foreign Office.
