Entry requirements

As a German citizen, you can return to Germany at any time and do not require a visa to enter the country.

If your identity document is no longer valid or will become invalid in the foreseeable future, please apply to a German diplomatic mission abroad for a new or renewed identity document.

Even if there is actually no German representation in individual countries, a nearby embassy will take care of your request. In some countries, consulates general may be responsible for your German travel document.
