Declaration of commitment for visits and business stays

If you enter Germany with a visa, a declaration of commitment may be required if

• you are entering the country to stay in Germany for a longer period of time.
• you may not be able to bear the costs of your stay alone.

The declaration of commitment must be submitted by your relative or another person in Germany. The person making the declaration agrees to bear all costs that may arise from your stay.

The person making the declaration must be a German or EU citizen or have a residence permit, settlement permit or other residence title. A tolerated stay permit and a fictitious certificate are not sufficient. The validity of the residence permit must extend beyond your visit.

If your visit to Germany is a business trip, the declaration of commitment can also be issued by a company based in Germany.
